The upper and lower layers are composed of spunbonded polypropylene. Its main function is to provide physical strength for the material and protect the intermediate melt blown layer. This layer is also a structure that provides filtration effect. Compared with SBPP material, SMS greatly improves particle protection and liquid splash resistance. After carbon treatment, it can be waterproof, blood and alcohol resistant, and is widely used in the medical field.

Multilayer composite membrane material, waterproof and breathable composite membrane material. In this epidemic, waterproof and breathable composite membrane materials are used most. This material mainly has two layers, spunbonded polypropylene and microporous breathable membrane. Spunbonded polypropylene plays a role of physical support; Microporous permeable membrane can let small molecules such as air and water pass through, but liquid or solid particles will be blocked out.

It was invented by teveqiang DuPont in 1955 and officially registered in 1965. Trademarks were not officially commercialized until 1967. It uses flash evaporation process to melt polyethylene in a specific solution, and then through high temperature, high pressure and rapid expansion, the solvent evaporates and polymerizes instantly to form ultrafine fibers. Under the action of static electricity, this kind of superfine fiber can keep the root independent, then lay it into spider web, and finally press it into non-woven fabric.


In addition, although breathable non-woven fabrics are made into protective clothing, they can block particles and aerosols. For example, the novel coronavirus pneumonia is mainly spread through droplets, and the protective clothing can provide protection and comfort as far as possible. However, in the face of Ebola, a virus transmitted through blood and body fluids, this breathable protective clothing provides very limited protection.


For another example, when operating industrial chemicals, there will be the risk of leakage and explosion of chemical products, so additional flame retardant function is required. At this time, isolated air tight multilayer composite membrane structure is required.
